First published in October 1959, Astérix is celebrating its 50th birthday with a two-part event taking place from 28 October 2009 to 3 January 2010.

In the restored frigidarium of the Gallo-Roman baths at the Musée de Cluny:
Some thirty original comic artworks by Albert Uderzo, along with handwritten texts and typescripts by René Goscinny, used in the creation of the Astérix albums, are on display for the first time in France.

On the railings around the garden of the Musée de Cluny:
Astérix invites you on a humorous walk through the history of art. Consisting of a dozen panels featuring famous parodies and original creations, this display establishes an unusual dialogue with several masterpieces of Western art.

This exhibition is organised by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, the Musée de Cluny and Editions Albert René with exceptional help from Albert Uderzo and Anne Goscinny.
