The Asterix Grand Collection is Back!

The Grand Collection

In the small Brittany village that we all know and love, everyone - warriors, craftsmen, merchants and druid alike - is carrying on peacefully with their activities…. Except for one hut in which can be heard blood-curdling screams: "Haaaaaaaa! Owww! Ooohhh!"

But don't jump to conclusions: for once our bard is not the cause of this wailing. It is, in fact, our beloved leader who is once again prey to a dreadful bout of indigestion, the result of having over-indulged at the birthday banquet in honour of Asterix and Obelix!

So, for once, you won't have to sit through one of his interminable speeches, even though today's news is a matter of great importance for all Asterix fans: the Grand Collection is back!

This anthology of the Asterix adventures, restored to their full glory with fresh inking, lettering and colours, and presented for the very first time in a large format that expresses the full force of Albert Uderzo's drawings, had been relegated to the back shelf for a while.

And why, do you ask? The many projects devised to celebrate Asterix's birthday had kept the entire team mobilized for months on end; they are now thrilled at the prospect of getting back to this exceptional project.
To such a point that they are already hard at work - not on just one, but on two albums at once! We can thus present you with a preview of the covers for Asterix and the Big Fight and Asterix in Britain, both of which are to be published next year. It won't be long before we will be bringing you more news and amazing surprises!

There's panic among of Asterix.com Virtual Village fans: the new Asterix Quiz, which you can find in Dogmatix's hut, will put to the test even the greatest of experts on our heroes.

You have until the end of the month to try your luck and make a mockery of our IT druid's pessimism. Good luck to one and all!

Two additions to the Asterix Grand Collection

The Grand Collection - Edition

Home-cinema fans "in the know" have a choice: either to discover their favourite films in DVD format or to sample the experience in high definition with Blu-Ray. Here, in the indomitable Gauls' virtual village, there's still a few of us who cling to the prehistoric era of VHS cassettes... suffice to say, they are old hat these days…

On the other hand, when it comes to the greatest classic in the comic book world, the clued-up comic book fans that we are have no need to hesitate: Asterix truly deserves his Grand Collection!

The equivalent of high definition for comic books, the Asterix Grand Collection lets you assemble all the adventures of the winged-helmet Gaul in large format edition, featuring restored inking, lettering and colours. There really isn't any better way of admiring the wealth of detail and wonderful artistry of Albert Uderzo's drawings.

And just recently, two new albums have been added to this collection: Asterix and the Great Divide, where love and politics collide in an epic, hilarious melodrama, plus Asterix and the Black Gold, which shows that even if the Gauls have any petra oleum (petrol), they're never short of ideas for how to have some fun! Two albums for two unforgettable stars: the ghastly Codfix in Asterix and the Great Divide, and the spy Dubbelosix, a caricature in homage to Sean Connery, in Asterix and the Black Gold.
